Construction of the Thomas Sankara Mausoleum: Francis Kéré meets Prime Minister Ouédraogo

The Prime Minister of Burkina Faso Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo received Francis Kéré in an audience on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, in Ouagadougou to discuss the progress of construction on the Thomas Sankara Mausoleum, which is part of the memorial complex of the same name.


"We have made significant progress and want to amaze and surprise people. All stakeholders are involved, both the political sphere, meaning the government, as well as the members of the International Committee of the Thomas Sankara Memorial (CIMTS) and the leadership of the memorial committee, who support, guide, and assist us," stated Francis Kéré after the meeting.


In his statement, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo emphasized that his government views the construction and development of tourist sites, such as the Thomas Sankara Memorial Mausoleum, as a means to promote key values that contribute to the country's socio-economic influence.


The completion of the mausoleum is scheduled for the first half of 2025.
